Guayakí believes firmly that we must engage in collective action to achieve our company vision of a bright, opportunity-rich future for our stakeholders, partners, communities, industry, and planet. In 2021, we engaged in collective action on a broad range of topics including the environment, regenerative agriculture, climate disclosures, and B Corporation advocacy.

Some examples of advocacy in 2021 include:

  • In April we participated with other Climate Collaborative members in urging the Biden-Harris Administration to set a bold GHG reduction target for the U.S., called a Nationally Determined Contribution, as part of the U.S. rejoining the Paris Climate Accords. In April we also endorsed The Climate Center’s Climate-Safe California campaign, calling for a net-negative emissions in California by 2030.
  • In May we joined hundreds of businesses and national organizations in endorsing the bicameral Agriculture Resilience Act (ARA; H.R. 2803/S. 1337) and the Climate Stewardship Act (CSA; H.R 2534/S. 1072), and the inclusion of key funding elements from those bills in the agriculture portion of the American Jobs Plan Act (AJPA) legislation.
  • In June we participated with CERES and other businesses in signing the Statement of Essential Principles for mandatory SEC climate disclosure, designed to shape the response of the US financial markets to climate change.
  • In September we participated with the Climate Collaborative, CERES, and other businesses in the Call4ClimateNOW campaign by calling political representatives and engaging our social media followers on Twitter.
  • In October we joined Organic Valley and other businesses in a letter writing campaign urging political representatives to include the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) in the Build Back Better Act (BBBA), HR 5376, supporting the role that rural America’s farmers, ranchers and businesses can play in decarbonizing the U.S. economy with energy efficiency and renewable energy investments.
  • In October we joined Ben and Jerry’s and 23 other food & beverage companies in signing a letter writing campaign urging political representatives to ensure that the $28 billion allocated for climate-smart conservation practices remain in the final version of the budget reconciliation bill.
  • In November we participated in American Sustainable Business Council’s letter writing campaign urging political representatives to include a national paid leave program in the Build Back Better Act (BBBA), HR 5376.
